This is my second set of DFD 3mm hoops. I really like that the rim sits low. Using an Aquarian John DeJonette head tensioned med high on a Tama Maple Studio SLP the rim tops 12mm above the head. All tension rod holes are flat and align with lugs. Can't tell you how much rod splay annoys me; I wouldn't hesitate to use these on a tube lug snare. 4 stars because the finish is good but not as smooth as the 10h brass set previously purchased. I'll buff these up after practice!
